Generally recognized as a critical component of our future sustainable energy future, Smart Grid is the overlay of Information technology (IT) on top of the electric grid, from generation sources (wherever they may be) and consuming devices (wherever they may be). From transmission monitoring systems such as Phasor Measurement Units (PMU), to Distribution Automation (DA), smart meters and Demand Side Management (DSM), the subject of Smart Grid is broad and critical for efficiency and sustainability of energy supply.
