Large buildings (commercial, retail, schools, medical, etc.) are responsible for around 40% of energy consumption in the developed world. With many large buildings being managed by complex Building Automation Systems (BAS), there is an enormous opportunity to use Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to improve energy efficiencies by automating energy usage while being sensitive to the energy supplies through Smart Grid and Demand Response techniques.
