Consuming around 5% of electricity in many developed areas, data centers have become a focus for energy management and efficiency improvements. With the realization that as much as half of that the energy is being used purely to cool, the U.S. Department of Energy and other organizations have mandated performance indexes to ensure best practice in this area at the cross-hairs of energy and Information Technology.
