Jayant Kumar Director, Smart Grid Products ALSTOM Grid

Dr. Jayant Kumar is the Director of Smart Grid Programs at Alstom Grid. Dr. Kumar has a PhD degree with major in Electrical Engineering and Minor in Economics and Computer Science from Iowa State University. He has over 20 years of experience in the utility industry. He has authored several papers in the area of power system modeling and systems for de-regulated electric industry.

Alstom is a $30Billion company with products, systems and solutions for three major energy sectors – generation, transmission & distribution and transport. In addition, Alstom and Boyugues (Ranked no 1 in building construction business in France) have launched a joint venture called EMBIX with business focus on Smart Buildings.

At Alstom, Dr. Kumar has developed new algorithms and products, and managed number of projects for several large utility customers including DOE, PNNL, ERCOT, PJM, CAISO, SPP, PG&E, TXU, and others. Prior to Alstom, Dr. Kumar worked at PG&E, and ABB Systems Control, in California and Electrical Power Research Center at Ames, Iowa.
