The modernization of the energy infrastructure in the U.S. is now of critical national importance. From climate change concerns and sustainable energy supply to energy security and economic development, the need to provide energy in the form of abundant, clean and economical electricity is one of three priorities for the Obama Administration.
The role of information technology in energy, encapsulated in the term Smart Grid, is thus a key initiative garnering the highest level of focus in the Administration. Aneesh Chopra, the first CTO for the USA, will deliver a call to action for innovators and entrepreneurs in the information technology, cleantech and energy sectors to pick up the call to arms and innovate ourselves out of this most pressing challenge.
