New HAN technologies enable plug-and-play compatibility and “retail” delivery of a wide variety of energy efficiency products and services. Wireless carriers, internet services, and companies providing home systems (e.g. security, lighting, audio/video, etc.) have all indicated that they want to partner with electric utilities.
What partnering is appropriate for traditional as well as “new” services? Will the traditional “home systems” and home networks already being deployed by retail service providers, cell phone carriers, etc. offer new partnering opportunities with utilities?
