Wireline Opportunities in Smart Grid

Event Over

As important as wireless networks are, they are not ubiquitous enough to meet the communications needs of all utilities. To varying degrees, the same can be said about their reliability, security and ability to deliver a high quality voice experience. Just as wireless networks are evolving towards 4G and LTE, wireline networks have been considerably upgraded with fiber. These upgrades are costly for telcos, and to generate a better ROI, wireline operators are eager to partner with utilities. Likewise, some utilities have taken it upon themselves to invest in their own fiber networks. This session will explore the value proposition for wireline networks and identify the best opportunities for utilities to leverage these leading technologies, either for themselves, or in partnership with telcos.
